# About Me
I am a software developer who is constantly curious about the current state of technology.
I originally studied Aerospace Engineering at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Georgia (USA) but eventually discovered that my passion lies with understanding how software works and with creating it myself.
Since I made the switch to professional software development in 2016 I have had a career spanning multiple industries, technologies and company cultures and I haven’t regretted the career shift for a single second.
Personal Characteristics
Some things to know about me:
- I am more of an expert generalist than a specialist in any one field
- I always consider the end user of my work, whether it’s another developer or a customer
- I prefer simplicity first and right-sizing solutions: not over-engineered and not quick-and-dirty
- I think it’s more important to set standards and conventions early on - even if they’re not perfect - than to spend a long time discussing and not implementing them
Values
I believe that in order to be a successful software developer, the following characteristics are important:
- continuous learning
- curiosity and trying new things
- open-mindedness to the ideas of others
- working iteratively but with a vision
- empathic (or at least never condescending) communication
